With all the fat, sweet, snarling Les Paul tone that purists love, the Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro IV sports a mahogany body with a thick maple cap for the perfect blend of warmth and clarity. The top is finished in high-gloss lacquer, while the back, sides and neck have a smooth satin finish that feels great and lets the wood resonate fully. Period-Correct Pickguard The cream-colored pickguard has been a Les Paul staple dating back to the models of the late s and the early s. Many players, however, removed the pickguard from their Les Pauls to show off the beauty of the flame maple tops, prompting Gibson to stop installing the pickguard altogether. During the s and s, Gibson began reinstalling the pickguard in the factory, and the Les Pauls from this era once again arrived in stores bearing the classic, cream-colored pickguard. These new pickups feature nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and 4-conductor braided wiring. The user-adjustable 10 dB boost circuit injects added power and frequency range for solos, single-note picking and dirty chording depending on amp settings and features true bypass that disengages the boost completely, ensuring pure passive Les Paul tone. Revolutionary Plek Set Up The Plek is a German-made, computer-controlled machine that carefully measures each fret, along with the fingerboard height under each string, and then automatically dresses each fret to tolerances within. This pioneering process does in minutes what it takes a luthier several hours—sometimes even days—to accomplish. Every fret is accurately aligned, and the guitar is properly intonated, leaving the instrument “Plek’d” and amazingly playable.

Epiphone Les Paul Epiphone Les Paul Dating back to and once a major rival of Gibson, the Epiphone company and brand were purchased by Gibson’s parent company in Originally the Epiphone models were made in the same factory as the Gibson guitars, by the same craftspeople using the same materials and often with the same features as Gibson models, but manufacturing of most of the Epiphone instruments was switched to Asia sometime around Today, Gibson primarily uses the Epiphone brand as their high value, lower priced overseas-built alternative to their top tier Gibson USA models.

All Epiphone models sold in the United States are subjected to a 15 point inspection process, and are “set up” in the USA by trained Gibson employees at their Nashville facility. Around , Les Paul, a legendary musician and musical electronics and solidbody guitar pioneer, created one of his early solid bodied guitars after-hours in the Epiphone factory out of a 4X4″ piece of wood. On to this he later attached side “wings” from a Epiphone hollowbody guitar in order to give it a more conventional look.

Finally the perfect Les Paul Over the years Gibson has tried so many different things on LP’s but they finally built the perfect one for me and probably for you too. Let me run it down: Read complete review Over the years Gibson has tried so many different things on LP’s but they finally built the perfect one for me and probably for you too. The reason LP’s always had killer sustain is the thick mahogany body has tons of resonance.

IMO the best neck they’ve ever made. Thin and very fast. BB3 can cover glassy cleans through thrash metal. The 57 classic is so smooth and produces really thick smooth creamy distortion. One of my faves is toggle switch in middle position, neck pup with knob pulled, bridge pup knob normal. I use that to play Lenny and it’s as sweet and glassy as the finest strat.

Go to menu top I never heard anything better than a Fender if we’re talking about the big manufacturers. Later on, in the Guitar section, I’ll also talk about Standel and EchoSonic , but they’re produced in such small numbers that it’s fair to say they’ll only have historic interest to the most of us So As long as you get a tube Fender you’ll probably be on the right track, because they all sound pretty good.

It doesn’t have to be vintage at all, but they do look pretty cool. Actually I started out playing a vintage Vox AC 30 and it wasn’t bad at all. The sound was very ‘tube’ and that’s what you’re looking for, but Fender is still the better choice for Rockabilly.

gibson melody maker usa made(not for sale) here we have a balst of the past vintage gibson melody maker. guitar is all original, its shows lots of natural aged finish cracks all over the body, this is a true relic, nothing artificial,1 single coil pickup, wrap around bridge, its a shortscale,it plays very nice, and sound really great.

I am trying to locate information and if possible drawings of the two buses in the attached images. They are both of the Cream Bus Service Ltd. I believe one is a Carrier CY and the other a Ford. I actually make model airplanes but would like to make a couple of models in remembrance of my Grandfather — hence my reach out for this help. Its all in the wonderful book on Samuel Ledgard: It includes a full history of Cream Bus.

Not sure about drawings and dimensions though as small buses at that time varied greatly with regard to dimensions. Thanks for the posting and photos. Maybe you could contact the Samuel Ledgard Society?

This resulted in the so-called lawsuit period. During this period, Ibanez produced guitars under the Mann name to avoid authorities in the United States and Canada. The company has produced its own guitar designs ever since. The late s and early s were an important period for the Ibanez brand. Most Ibanez guitars were made by the FujiGen guitar factory in Japan up until the mid- to late s, and from then on Ibanez guitars have also been made in other Asian countries such as Korea, China, and Indonesia.

Later, a shorter neck was added. Similar in size to the hollow-body Thinlines, the ES family had a solid center, giving the string tone a longer sustain. Here is a very, very, rare guitar. Not many of these were sold as people thought they looked real strange. In fact they were made to look like a early 18th centuary instrument on purpose. It has a Mike Christian transducer bridge and is perfect for the acoustic player who likes to play electric now and again. It will never ever feedback. Made of course at the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo this one dates from and is already worth twice what it cost new.

But, with more than 75 years of shipping records in the Gibson books, and dozens of variations on numerical schemes used over the years, serial numbers sometimes do little to shed light on the origin of a mysterious Gibson. With vintage Gibsons selling at auction for as much as half a million dollars, Davidson will sometimes roll up his sleeves and poke around in the ledgers, but only as time allows.

The earliest volumes contain hundreds of yellowed pages covered front and back with rows of handwritten numbers. It can take Davidson several hours to locate a specific serial number, if he can find it at all. Even then, there may be four other guitars—of all different models—with the same number sequence.

The key feature of the Les Paul Classic was it’s slim neck profile. The Les Paul Classic also had some other features true to the original: Some differences were the Les Paul Classic’s truss rod cover with “Classic” and pickguard engraved ” The Classic’s higher price was justified by its reissue-yet-modern vibe and was further enhanced by availability in several sunburst finishes, and in bullion gold on the top, sides, back and neck.

There was no special effort to find figured maple for these so most of the tops on sunburst Classic models were plain. The Les Paul Classic specifications were adjusted during the early s. In many respects the Les Paul Classic was a more accurate reissue than the ’59 Les Paul of the early s. By swapping a few easily found parts:
